What is F-Gas Certification?

F-gas certification is the refrigeration industries equivalent to the combustible gas engineers “Gas Safe” certification. It is a legal requirement for all refrigeration companies and anyone dealing with refrigeration equipment to be F-Gas certified.

It acts to prove that the person is able to identify, handle and recover refrigerants covered under the F-Gas regulations. The reason for this regulation is because refrigerants being used in existing systems have a global warming potential (some worse than others) so it is important that any individual that works with it knows what to do and how to do it

Who needs to be F-Gas Registered?

Any company that handles refrigerant requires all employees within their company that deals with refrigerant have to be qualified to do so, either with City & Guilds 2079 or Construction Skills certification. Without this, a company can't legally install a cooling system such as cellar cooling.

All our engineers that handle refrigerants have passed a practical and theory exam to gain a city and guilds (2079 cat 1), and we have registered with one of the certifying bodies, REFCOM (REF1012852).
